As the Principal Designer at Ashley Morgan Interiors, I’ve always been fascinated by the transformative power of color. It’s incredible how the right hues can completely change the feel of a room, evoking emotions that range from serenity to vibrancy. When I work with my clients, color isn’t just an afterthought—it’s a fundamental part of the design process. I love helping homeowners discover the perfect palette that not only reflects their personal style but also enhances the beauty and functionality of their space.

My approach always begins with understanding how different colors affect mood and behavior. Color psychology plays a huge role in how I design each room. I pay close attention to how my clients want to feel in different parts of their home. For instance, when designing a bedroom, I often gravitate toward calming blues or soft greens to create a peaceful environment. In more energetic spaces like the kitchen or dining room, I might incorporate bolder tones to encourage warmth and liveliness. Every color is chosen with the emotional impact it will have in mind, creating a space that feels truly tailored to my clients' needs.

A cohesive color scheme is essential to making a home feel harmonious, and that’s something I carefully plan out for each project. I typically start with a base color that resonates with the homeowner, then layer in complementary shades to add depth and dimension. I like to follow the 60-30-10 rule for balance, which allows me to play with different tones while ensuring everything works together seamlessly. This method helps me create a smooth transition from one room to the next, ensuring that the entire home feels connected yet distinct in each space.

Neutrals are often my go-to foundation when I’m designing. They offer timeless elegance and versatility, allowing other colors to pop without overwhelming the room. A well-chosen neutral—whether it’s a crisp white, soft beige, or sleek gray—provides the perfect backdrop for more dramatic accents. I also love using neutrals to bring a sense of calm and sophistication to a space, giving my clients the flexibility to experiment with bolder elements or seasonal updates without sacrificing cohesion.

For me, color is about creating environments that feel right for each individual home. It's not just about following trends but about crafting a palette that makes my clients feel truly at home. If you're ready to explore how color can elevate your space, we’d love to guide you through the process and create something beautiful, personal, and lasting for your home.
